Do you remember this little chair that I found at an estate sale??
I wasn't going to do anything to it until after I moved, decided where I really wanted it to be, and what color to make the seat, but it demanded more attention. I'm really happy with how it turned out!! Refinishing things is so fun and makes me feel very industrious.There's just something about working a power tool that makes me say the phrase, "I am woman, hear me roar!" {even though it was just my staple gun and little power screw driver to put in the screws on the bottom}
I took off the seat, ripped out staples, and got rid of the gross old covering and padding. I bought some 2" foam from Joann's to make the seat a little poofier.
When I was at Joann's they used a power carving knife to cut the foam for me. Great idea. I traced my circle and cut it out. The kids in the neighborhood were really interested in what I was doing. I started by pulling opposite sides in pretty tightly. After lots of staples and trimming the edges, I ended up with this.The paper backing of the old cover was falling apart, so I cut a circle from a box and stapled it the bottom of the seat.
I spray painted the chair black, screwed on the seat, and wa-lah! I love it. I see it alone in the corner of my room and just have to sit on it when I walk by. It's so cute and squishy.
